KREITZBERG ARENA

Kreitzberg Arena, located on the campus of Norwich University, is one of the premier collegiate ice hockey facilities in the nation. It is home to both the Norwich men’s and women’s varsity ice hockey teams as well as the school’s club team. Local youth and high school hockey teams also use the 200 x 90-foot ice surface for practices and games. The 1,400-seat arena can accommodate 3,000 spectators for hockey games and up to 5,000 for special events.

The 59,000-square-foot arena houses the varsity locker rooms for both the men’s and women’s ice hockey teams, both ice hockey head coaches’ offices, a training room, an officials’ locker room and six visiting team locker rooms designed for the hosting of tournaments. It also contains a Norwich hockey merchandise shop and a snack bar is conveniently located in the adjacent Doyle Hall foyer.

Kreitzberg served as the host site for the 1999, 2003 and 2004 NCAA Division III men’s ice hockey championships.

Officially opened in 1998, Kreitzberg Arena meets the long-standing need for a modern intercollegiate hockey and skating facility at Norwich. It has also enhanced the recreational and athletic opportunities for all members of the Norwich community. Equally important, the arena provides the university with a flexible and attractive space for presentations, concerts and campus convocations.
