Norwich Women Capture GNAC Commissioner's Cup

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Spearheaded by the women's lacrosse team's conference championship, and the women's cross country team's runner-up showing at the league meet last fall, Norwich University won the 2007-08 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Commissioner's Cup.

The Cadets accrued 20 points, and just edged Emerson, Emmanuel and St. Joseph's (Maine) (19 points apiece) for the women's crown. NU earned five points for winning the conference's inaugural women's lacrosse championship game last month, defeating Emerson, 10-8, in the title game.

NU picked up another four markers for placing runner-up at the women's cross country championships in the fall.

Norwich's women's basketball and women's soccer teams contributed three points apiece for their Top 4 finishes, while the volleyball and swimming and diving squads each added two points each for making the league playoffs.
