Baseball: Clarion Sweeps Doubleheader From Norwich
COCOA BEACH, Fla. - Jason Nickerson threw six solid innings in the first game, and Donovan Brown led the Cadets' offense in the nightcap as the Norwich University baseball team opened its 2008 campaign by dropping both ends of a doubleheader to Clarion on Monday.
Clarion (5-0) won the first game, 5-4, before taking a 16-1 victory in the night cap.
Nickerson went six innings in game one and allowed just three earned runs. James Ramsay paced the NU offense with two hits. He was the only Cadet to register multiple hits in the contest.
In the second game, Kyle Kenia was roughed up for eight runs in three innings as the Cadets fell behind, 8-0, early. Clarion never looked back en route to the triumph. Brown went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the NU attack.
Norwich (0-2) returns to action on Tuesday, March 11, when the Cadets take on Washington College (Md.) at 12:30 p.m., and New England College at 4 p.m.
