Baseball: Norwich Sweeps Twinbill From Daniel Webster

NASHUA, N.H. - The Norwich University baseball team swept a doubleheader from GNAC rival Daniel Webster on Saturday afternoon, winning by scores of 4-2 and 13-6.

The Cadets improve to 4-20 (3-11 GNAC) with their first league sweep of the season. Daniel Webster, meanwhile, falls to 4-24 (2-12 GNAC).

Jason Nickerson picked up the victory on the mound in the opener, yielding just two earned runs on five hits over seven innings.

Donovan Brown paced the Cadets' offensive attack in game one, going 2-for-3 with two runs batted in. Rob Knox chipped in by going 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

In the nightcap, Ian Caird, Dean Viti and Emilio Martinez pitched Norwich to another victory. Caird got the start, going four innings and giving up two earned runs on seven hits. Viti allowed just one earned run in two innings, and Martinez surrendered one unearned run in his inning of work.

James Ramsay led the NU offense in the second game, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and a pair of RBIs. Tim O'Connor went 2-for-5 with three runs batted in, Dominic Sorrentino went 2-for-5 and Knox went 2-for-4 with a home run and three runs batted in.
