Baseball: Washington College Pounds Norwich, 22-5

COCOA BEACH, Fla. - Washington College recorded 25 hits in a 22-5 win over Norwich University Tuesday afternoon in college baseball action. The 22 runs for the Shoremen represent the most they have scored in a game since a 24-5 victory over Lincoln on March 19, 2001.

Washington (2-2) scored five runs in the third inning and six more in the seventh to account for half of the Shoremen's 22 runs. Senior outfielder James Tidwell went 4-for-5 with an RBI in the win, while junior shortstop Greg Perret went 3-for-6 with three runs scored. Juniors Rob Rifkin and Jim Bannar combined to go 4-for-7.

Freshman pitcher A.J. Hill got the win for the Shoremen in his collegiate debut. Hill allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out four batters in five innings of work.

Norwich (0-3) was led by James Ramsay, who went 3-for-5 with a triple. Kory Delehanty banged out a pair of triples of his own, while Donovan Brown slapped a pair of hits as well.

The Cadets return to action later today when they take on New England College at 4 p.m.
