Football: DiMeco, Hanni And Ohrenberger Named 2010 Football Captains

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University football team announced its captains for the 2010 season this week, and rising seniors Rocco DiMeco, Don Hanni and Mike Ohrenberger will share the honor.

DiMeco (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional) is an inside linebacker, who led the team in tackles last season with 86 stops. He also ranked second on the team in tackles-for-loss (12.0) and listed fourth on the club in sacks (1.5).

Ohrenberger (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) is a play-making outside linebacker, who ranked among the Cadets’ leaders in tackles (50) and tackles-for-loss (4.5) last season during the team’s run to the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) championship.

Hanni (Youngstown, Ohio/Ursuline) is an offensive lineman, who helped pave the way for Norwich’s dominating ground game in 2009. He will anchor a veteran group up front for the Cadets this fall.

The Cadets, who are riding an eight-game win streak, open their 2010 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 4, when they host Western New England College at Sabine Field. Kickoff for the season-opening contest is slated for 1:30 p.m.
