Football - Norwich earns academic awards
NORTHFIELD, VT. – Norwich University had nine of its 2011 football team members named to the 2011-12 Eastern Collegiate Football Conference all-academic squad, released Feb. 14.
Representing the Maroon and Gold were sophomore athletic training major Andrew Banuskevich (Peterborough, N.H.); junior political science major Brendan Carroll (Wellington, Fla.); sophomore criminal justice major James Cejka (Brunswick, Me.); senior accounting major Long Ding (Qing Dao, China); junior engineering management major Nate Fortezzo (Branford, Mass.); sophomore mechanical engineering majoring Ethan Hanks (Hull, Mass.); sophomore history major Brian Keville (Southborough, Mass.); junior criminal justice major Josh Menge (Hagaman, N.Y.); and sophomore communications major Mitch Przybocki (Middletown, N.Y.).
To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must be sophomores or higher academically, a two-year member of the program and carry a 3.30 cumulative GPA or higher. Coach Mark Murnyack’s squad was tied with Gallaudet for the most individuals recognized. NU’s honoree total continues an impressive run for the Cadets in relation to the award as the program has had at least seven in two of the three years it has been selected.
