Men’s Basketball: Cadets Fall Short Versus Saint Joseph’s (ME), 79-65
NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Despite a game-high 30 points from senior forward Antonio Davis (Albany, N.Y.), the Norwich University men’s basketball team could not get past visiting Saint Joseph’s College, falling 79-65 Feb. 7 at Andrews Hall. The loss dropped the Cadets to 5-16 overall and 4-11 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.
Davis shot lights out from both the floor and the free-throw line, hitting on 10-of-13 attempts from the field and 10-of-11 chances from the charity stripe. The fourth-year player also had game-highs in rebounds (eight) and blocks (three).
The Monks were led by Chris Petzy’s 22 points which included a five-of-seven performance from beyond the three-point arc. Teammates Zach O’Brien and Matthew Medeiros also contributed double figures for SJC, scoring 17 and 14 points respectively.
Freshman forward Evan Tullar (Chelsea, Vt.) and junior guard Josh Cabrera (Providence, R.I.) each pitched in nine points for the Cadets. Sophomore guard Nickolai Havoutis (Coral Gables, Fla.) dished out a team-high five assists for NU.
Norwich takes to the road Saturday, Feb. 11, to take on GNAC-foe Emmanuel at 1 p.m. The Cadets lost in their first matchup with the Saints this season, a 64-41 decision at home on Dec. 10.
