Men’s Basketball: Cadets Topple Mount Ida, 63-59
NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University
men’s basketball team opened the 2012 portion of its schedule
in style, picking up a 63-59 conference win over Mount Ida Saturday
afternoon at Andrews Gymnasium. Sophomore guard Tom McDonald had a
game-high 17 points to lead the Cadets.
McDonald went 3-of-9 from behind the three-point line, including a
huge shot to put Norwich up by four with 29 seconds remaining in
the game.
Senior guard Leland Brunswick contributed a strong effort for the
Cadets (2-7, 1-2 GNAC) scoring 12 points and pulling down seven
rebounds.
Mount Ida (3-7, 0-3 GNAC) was paced by Keith Jones 17 points, while
Travis Hillery chipped in 12.
With the victory NU snaps a five-game slide that began on Nov. 29
versus Colby-Sawyer. The Cadets will look to make it two in a row
when they travel to Paxton, Mass., to take on conference foe Anna
Maria on Jan. 10.
