NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Norwich men's hockey standout Rick Cleaver was selected as the ECAC ‘Player of the Week" on Tuesday, in recognition of a pair of productive games against Southern Maine and Salem State last weekend.

Cleaver began his weekend with a pair of assists in Norwich's 8-3 loss at Southern Maine. The senior from Parksville, B.C., came back stronger in NU's 6-2 victory over Salem State on Saturday, netting a pair of goals and handing out one assist.

For the week, Cleaver tied for the team lead with two goals, three assists and five points.

Freshman defenseman Sylvain Messier was named to the ECAC "Honor Roll" after scoring a power play goal in each of Norwich's games last weekend. His second period tally versus Salem State proved to be the game-winning tally.

A native of St. Hyacinthe, Que., totaled two goals and two points for the week.

The Norwich men's ice hockey team returns to action Friday and Saturday, Nov. 23-24, when the Cadets travel to Plattsburgh, N.Y., for the 2007 Primelink Shootout. The Cadets will face Middlebury at 4 p.m. in the first round on Friday, before facing either Plattsburgh State or St. John's (Minn.) in the second round on Saturday.
