Men's Lacrosse: Emerson Doubles Up Norwich, 8-4

BOSTON - Josh Anderson notched three goals and added an assist to lead Emerson past Norwich, 804, in a non-conference men's lacrosse game Thursday evening. The Cadets fall to 0-2 with the loss.
Anderson opened the scoring with an unassisted tally only 38 seconds into the contest to put the Lions on top. Emerson (1-7) scored the next three goals, and it was 4-0 before Cadets' Kyle Marzeoti scored to make it 4-1 at the end of the first quarter.
A man-up goal by Tyler Woods cut Norwich's deficit to 4-2 with 6:32 remaining in the first half. Woods' tally was the only goal scored in the second period, and Emerson carried its 4-2 lead into halftime.
Anderson notched what proved to be the game-winning goal with an unassisted marker at 11:31 of the third period, then followed with another goal later in the stanza. Norwich midfielder C.J. Hamilton ended the third quarter scoring off an assist from Craig Van Yahres.
Joe Greaney and Noah Appel added fourth quarter scores for the Lions, before NU's Drew Caplin closed the scoring for the Cadets.
Emerson goalie Dean Smollar recorded 21 saves in the win, while Nick Bakos made 15 for the Cadets.
Norwich returns to action on Saturday, March 29, when the Cadets host Clark in the team's home opener. Gametime is set for 1 p.m.
