Men's Lacrosse: MIT Defeats Norwich, 11-5
NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Dylan Roden scored a game-high five goals, and Neil Zimmerman had one goal and a game-high three assists to help lead MIT past Norwich, 11-5, in a Pilgrim League men's lacrosse game Wednesday afternoon at Howard Field.
Ernie Park added two goals for the Engineers, who improve to 6-5 (3-1 Pilgrim).
Norwich (2-6, 0-4 Pilgrim) was led by Kyle Marzeoti, who netted two goals and dished out one assist. Patrick Sikora, Tyler Woods and Craig Van Yahres each tallied goals for the Cadets.
MIT outscored Norwich 4-1 in the first quarter, and the Engineers led 6-2 at halftime. MIT put four more goals on the board in the third quarter to increase its lead to 10-3. Norwich had the better of play in the final stanza, outscoring MIT 2-1 in the frame.
Norwich goalkeepers Ryan Leroux and Nathan Proctor split time in the Cadets' cage. Leroux made six saves in the first half, while Proctor stopped nine shots in the second half.
Garth Grove went the distance in the MIT goal, making seven saves in the victory.
MIT outshot Norwich 34-21. The Engineers won 10-of-18 faceoffs.
Norwich returns to action on Saturday, April 18, when the Cadets travel to Norton, Mass., to battle Pilgrim League opponent Wheaton at 1 p.m.
