Men's Lacrosse: Norwich Powers Past Daniel Webster, 15-9
NASHUA, N.H. – Michael White, Justin Pearson and Tyler Nicoll each scored three goals apiece, and Joe Galante chipped in one goal and four assists to help lead the Norwich University men’s lacrosse team to a 15-9 victory over Daniel Webster College Thursday afternoon at Eagle Field.
Kyle Marzeoti contributed two goals and two assists for the Cadets, while Tyler Woods added one goal and two assists.
Norwich (2-1) scored the first five goals of the contest to jump out to a commanding 5-0 advantage just 11 minutes into the first quarter.
Daniel Webster (0-2) pulled to within 8-4 at halftime, but Norwich outscored the Eagles 6-0 in the third quarter to seize control of the game. The Eagles held a 5-1 edge in the fourth quarter, but the outcome had been decided by that time.
Nathan Proctor played the full 60 minutes in the Norwich cage, and the sophomore made eight saves to earn the victory.
Norwich outshot Daniel Webster 38-24 in the contest. The Cadets won 19-of-25 faceoffs as well.
Mike Jordan and Justin Chiulli each posted three goals and one assist apiece to lead Daniel Webster offensively.
Norwich is scheduled to open its 2010 home schedule on Saturday, March 27, against Becker College. Faceoff from Howard Field is slated for 1 p.m.
