NEWTON, Mass. - Norwich University men's lacrosse attackman Josh Jenkins (Centennial, Colo.) has been selected as one of 50 student-athletes tabbed to play in the 2018 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) East-West Senior All-Star Game on Friday, June 1st in Hooksett, New Hampshire.
Jenkins put together one of the best individual seasons in Norwich lacrosse history, capping off his senior campaign by taking home the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Offensive Player of the Year Award and his second First Team All-Conference nod. The Colorado native led the Cadets in points, goals, and assists as he helped lead Norwich to a 7-1 regular season conference record, the number one overall postseason seed, and an appearance in the GNAC Championship Game.
His 67 points this year is the highest single-season total in program history and his 179 career points and 124 career goals both rank second all-time behind only Scott McCarthy '97.
All players and coaches were nominated by the head coaches within the NEILA. Players were then ranked and selected by a committee awarding seniors from all three NCAA Divisions who played their college career in the New England region.
"The NEILA recognizes these terrific student-athletes for their accomplishments over their entire playing careers. To be selected for the East-West All-Star game means that you have been a star, not just this year, but throughout your four years in New England collegiate lacrosse," said Tim Murphy, head coach of Curry College and coordinator of the East-West All-Star team selection.
Jenkins is just the third Cadet to play in the NEILA All-Star Game, following Mark Paradiso '14 and Andrew Bracy '15.
The game will take place at Penmen Stadium at Southern New Hampshire University on June 1st with a start time of 6:30 PM.
