Men's Rugby: Vermont Runs Past Norwich, 55-0
BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Norwich University men's rugby team dropped a 55-0 decision at Vermont on Saturday. The Catamounts took advantage of the substantial wind and sailed to the victory.
UVM scored at the five-minute mark and never looked back. Norwich came out flat and UVM cruised to a 29-0 halftime lead.
The Cadets improved their rugby in the second stanza, but they were unable to maintain continuity of play. UVM added to their lead with four more tries. Norwich had its opportunities in UVM's zone but did not convert.
"We never really got off the bus and UVM was at full throttle throughout," said NU head coach Bob Weggler. "My hat goes off to UVM for the convincing win."
Norwich's second side was victorious, 22-0. The four tries were scored by Townsend, Garcia, Maloney and McGrath.
