Ryan Boyton Named GNAC "Rookie Of The Week"

Oct 16, 2007

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Norwich University freshman men's soccer player Ryan Boyton was honored as the GNAC "Rookie of the Week" on Tuesday following a pair of solid performances last week.

A native of Dunedin, Fla., Boyton began his week by assisting on Rob Harlow's goal in the Cadets' 1-1 tie versus Mount Ida on Wednesday. On Saturday, Boyton tallied a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in NU's 5-0 defeat of Daniel Webster.

Boyton, who has been a steady contributor throughout the year for Norwich, leads all NU rookies with seven goals, six assists and 20 points. He ranks third overall on the team in each category as well.

Norwich (11-2-1, 6-0-1 GNAC) returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 17, when the Cadets host Lasell in a key conference match. Kickoff from Howard Field is slated for 3 p.m.

NU controls its own destiny in the chase for the No. 1 seed in the upcoming GNAC Tournament. Should the Cadets win their three remaining games, they would play at home throughout the duration of the tourney.
