Men's Soccer: Norwich Falls To Johnson & Wales, 2-1, In GNAC Title Game

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Scott Kirchner scored off an assist from Jeremiah Schenzel in the 97th minute to lift visiting Johnson & Wales to a 2-1 overtime victory over Norwich in the GNAC men's soccer championship game played Saturday at Howard Field.
The Cadets (16-3-1) trailed 1-0 at halftime, but scored the equalizer midway through the second half only to see the Wildcats (14-5-3) secure the win in the first overtime session.
Kyle Przekaza netted NU's lone goal when he converted a penalty kick in the 60th minute. The PK was awarded after Johnson & Wales was whistled for a handball in the box.
The teams went back-and-forth for most of the first half, and it remained scoreless until Johnson & Wales broke through with a goal in the 43rd minute. Schenzel tallied the marker off an assist from Kirchner.
Norwich outshot Johnson & Wales, 20-16, and the Cadets held a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.
Jake Pagragan made four saves for the Cadets, while Wildcat keeper Joe Ferraro turned away eight shots.
Norwich will now have wait to see if it receives a bid to either the NCAA or ECAC Tournament.
