Emmanuel Motaze Named GNAC "Rookie Of The Week"

Sep 11, 2007

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Norwich University freshman men's soccer standout Emmanuel Motaze was selected as the GNAC "Rookie of the Week" following his outstanding performance versus Rivier last Saturday afternoon.

The native of Cameroon, who is in his first season as a member of the Cadets, dished out a pair of assists and scored his first career goal in Norwich's 9-0 victory over visiting Rivier in the conference opener last weekend at Howard Field.

Motaze, who has started in the midfield for each of Norwich's three contests this season, set career highs in goals (1), assists (2) and points (4) in the lopsided win over Rivier.

The first-year performer has been a steady contributor to the NU offense through the season's first three games, adding even more fire power to a team that is averaging 4.33 goals per game so far in 2007.

Motaze and his teammates return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 12, when the Cadets travel to Chicopee, Mass., for a non-league match versus Elms College. Kickoff for the midweek tilt is slated for 4 p.m.
