LEWISTON, Maine -Chris Prybella had a hand in four victories in the pool, and Ben Courtney had a hand in three wins to help lead the Norwich men's swimming and diving team to a sweep of Bates and New England on Saturday afternoon. The Cadets topped Bates, 153.5-113.5, and defeated New England, 193-38.
The two victories run Norwich's overall record to 5-2 on the season.
Prybella and Courtney teamed with Renat Fatkulin and Peter Bue to win the 200-yard medley relay with a clocking of 1:43.19. Prybella then went on to secure victories in the 50-yard freestyle (22.42), the 100-yard freestyle (48.69) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.07).
Courtney, meanwhile, took gold in the 50-yard backstroke (26:21) and the 100-yard backstroke (55.69).
Joe Moeller won a pair of individual events, taking first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.71) and the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:31.95).
Fatkulin, Bue and Kyle Kenia all won individual events as well. Fatkulin won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.42), Bue took gold in the 50-yard butterfly (25.98) and Kenia won the 500-yard freestyle (5:14.71).
Norwich returns to action on Sunday, Jan. 13, when the Cadets travel to Waterville, Maine, to battle Colby College at 12 p.m.
