Norwich Wins Lyndon State Meet

LYNDON, Vt. - John Pomeroy, Brendan Thompson and Michael Monaghan swept the top three positions to help the Norwich men's cross country team to the win at the Lyndon State Meet on Saturday morning.
Pomeroy led the way, winning the race with a clocking of 22 minutes, 57.70 seconds. Thompson, who was nipping at Pomeroy's heels the entire race, finished runner-up in a time of 22:58.50. Monaghan, meanwhile, took third overall, completing the course in 23:07.90.
Four other Norwich runners also placed within the Top 15, with John Guarnieri taking fifth (23:43.40), Dan Bliss placing sixth (23:48.10), Zach Charney finishing seventh (23:53.70) and Sean O'Hara taking 11th (24:50.30).
NU returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 15, when the Cadets travel to Middlebury, Vt., to battle arch-rival Middlebury College.
