Norwich Places Fourth At WNEC Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - John Pomeroy finished seventh and four other NU runners placed within the Top 30 as he Norwich men's cross country team placed fourth out of 10 teams at the WNEC Invitational on Saturday.

Pomeroy was the first Cadet to cross the finish line, touring the 8,000-meter course in a time of 28:20.

John Guarnieri was the next Norwich harrier to finish the race, placing 20th overall with a clocking of 29:43. Michael Monaghan finished 27th (30:05), while Zach Charney (30:06) and Dan Bliss (30:10) placed 29th and 30th, respectively.

WPI won the team title with 28 points as five of the Engineers' runners placed within the Top 10. Worcester State (80 points) and Clark (126) rounded out the Top 3. Norwich followed in fourth place with 130 points.

The Norwich men's cross country team returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 27, when the Cadets travel to Standish, Maine, to take part in the season-ending GNAC Championships.
