Men's Cross Country: Cadets Place Fifth At WNEC Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - John Pomeroy placed third overall, and two other Cadet runners finished in the Top 25 to lead the Norwich University men's cross country team to a fifth-place finish at the WNEC Invitational on Saturday.

The Cadets racked up 146 points to place within the upper third of the 16-team field. American International won the team event with 71 points.

Pomeroy continued to lead the Cadets, touring the 8,000-meter course in a time of 26:44 to finish third in the 129-runner field. Brendan Thompson was the next Norwich harrier to cross the finish line, placing 13th overall with a clocking of 28:13. Michael Christopher placed 21st overall with a time of 28:51.

Thomas Malinowski (32:12) and Charles Bousa (32:30) rounded out the Norwich Top 5, placing 69th and 71st, respectively.

Norwich returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 11, when the Cadets travel to Standish, Maine, to defend their GNAC title.
