WESTFORD, Conn. – The Norwich University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Connecticut College Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.
The Cadet men placed 14th out of 20 teams while the women's squad finished 18th out of 21 teams.
In men's action NU was led by junior Brody Hale (Naugatuck, Conn.) who finished the 8k course in 26:34.8 for a 45th place finish. Sophomore Jack McNally (Nokesville, Va.) placed 60th in 26:51.3 while senior Connor Lafontaine (Tolland, Conn.) finished 132nd in 27:56.5. Sophomore Ryan English (Frederick, Md.) (140th place, 28:08.2) and freshman Trenton Shimata (Colorado Springs, Colo.) (142nd, 28:11.7) rounded out the top five Cadet men.
On the women's side Norwich was once again paced by senior Haddie Lary (Randolph, Vt.) who finished the 6k run in 24:17.3 to place 63rd overall. Sophomore Robyn Hageman (Westlake, Ohio) finished 107th with a time of 25:02.4 and junior Carisa DeKalb (San Diego, Calif.) placed 145th in 25:50.2. Senior Melissa Hango (Berkshire,Vt.) (178th place, 26:18.6) and freshman Olivia Giarrizzo (Tampa, Fla.) (181st, 26:21.4) closed out the Norwich scorers.
The Cadets are next in action on Saturday, October 28th for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship Meet. Both teams will look to defend their 2016 crowns as the women's race is set for 1:00 p.m. and the men's contest is slated for 2:00 p.m.
