Cross County: Cadet Men Take Third, Women Ninth at Earley Invitational

HOLYOKE, Mass. – The Norwich University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the 22nd Annual James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University on Saturday.

The men's team finished third out of 37 teams while the women's squad placed ninth out of 33 teams.

On the men's side the Cadets were paced by junior Brody Hale (Naugatuck, Conn.) who finished the 8k course in 26:42.11 for an 11th place finish. Sophomores Jack McNally (Nokesville, Va.) (26:43.63, 12th place) and Adam Saucier (Massena, N.Y.) (13th, 26:44.47) finished just behind Hale. 

Junior Korey Leonard (Pembroke, Mass.) placed 34th in 27:47.43 and freshman William Rapsas (Lanoka Harbor, N.J.) finished 42nd with a time of 27:57.19 to round out the NU top five.

In women's action Norwich was led by senior Haddie Lary (Randolph, Vt.) who finished 29th overall in 19:36.34 on the 5k course. Sophomore Robyn Hageman (Westlake, Ohio) finished 55th in 20:14.49 while senior Melissa Hango (Berkshire, Vt.) placed 78th in 20:38.97.

Junior Carisa DeKalb (San Diego, Calif.) (90th place, 20:46.35) and freshman Olivia Giarizzo (Tampa, Fla.) (94th, 20:49.14) closed out the NU scorers.

The Cadets are next in action on Saturday, October 14th at the Connecticut College Invitational. The women's race is set for 11 a.m. with the men's contest to follow at noon.
