WINTHROP, Mass. - The Norwich University men's cross country team swept the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Corvias weekly awards as junior Brody Hale (Naugatuck, Conn.) was named Runner of the Week and freshman William Rapsas (Lanoka Harbor, N.J.) was named Rookie of the Week.
Hale led the six-man contingent of Cadets that made the trip to the Paul Short Run with a 10th place finish out of 283 runners. He traversed the 8,000-meter course in a time of 26:12. Rapsas placed 103rd in 27:52 and was the fifth-fastest NU finisher.
The Norwich men placed eighth out of 36 teams in the White Race, which featured a mix of Division II and Division III programs. The high-powered meet is the largest intercollegiate cross country meet in the nation with approximately 6,000 athletes from nearly 450 colleges and high schools competing annually in 14 races throughout the day.
The Cadets are next in action on Saturday, October 7th at the Westfield State James Early Invitational. The women's contest is scheduled for 11 a.m. while the men's race is slated for noon.
