Men's Cross Country: Leonard, Rapsas Honored by GNAC

WINTHROP, Mass. - Two members of the Norwich University men's cross country team were honored by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference on Tuesday morning as junior Korey Leonard (Pembroke, Mass.) was named GNAC-Corvias Co-Runner of the Week and freshman William Rapsas (Lanoka Harbor, N.J.) was named GNAC Rookie of the week.

Leonard placed third at the Roger Williams Invitational out of 88 runners in a time of 16:53 for a 5K. Norwich finished second as a team out of seven teams at the meet. He was the first GNAC runner across the line.

Rapsas placed 10th overall in a time of 17:15 and was the first GNAC rookie to finish the race. He extended Norwich's domination of the GNAC Rookie of the Week award to 16 straight weeks that they have had the winner in weeks the team has competed.

Norwich finished second as a team out of seven teams at the meet.

The Cadets are next in action on Saturday, September 16th at the Middlebury Aldrich Invitational. The women's race is set for 11:00 a.m. while the men's race is slated for noon.
