Women's Basketball: Christine Daniels Selected As GNAC "Rookie Of The Week"

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Norwich freshman women's basketball player Christine Daniels was named the GNAC "Rookie of the Week" on Tuesday after the first-year forward authored the finest performance of her young career on Saturday in NU's 68-54 victory over Emerson.

Daniels scored a career-high 20 points and hauled down a career-best 17 rebounds en route to posting her first career double-double versus the Lions in Norwich's GNAC opener over the weekend. The Concord, N.H., native connected on 4-of-11 field goal attempts, and was a perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line in the win.

For the season, Daniels leads the team in rebounding (7.6 rpg.) and ranks sixth among all Norwich players in scoring (7.1 ppg.). The first-year forward also ranks tied for third on the club in steals with 11.

Norwich (2-10, 1-0 GNAC) returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 15, when the Cadets travel to West Hartford, Conn., to take on St. Joseph's (Conn.) in a GNAC contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
