Women's Basketball: Erica Rate Named All-GNAC

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Norwich University women's basketball player Erica Rate was recognized by the GNAC on Wednesday, as the sophomore guard was named to the all-league third team.
A native of Weymouth, Mass., Rate leads the Cadets in scoring with a 10.1 ppg., average. She also tops the team and ranks second in the conference with 63 three-pointers. Her 35.0 percent shooting percentage from behind the arc lists fifth in the GNAC.
Rate, who also lists second on the team with 56 assists, has started 23 of the team's 25 games this season and is averaging more than 28 minutes per game.
The durable sophomore guard has been an integral part of the team's success this season, and the sky is the limit for Rate with two more seasons of eligibility remaining.
Rate has scored in double-figures 11 times for the Cadets so far this season. Her strong play has helped Norwich to its current seven-game win streak and a berth in the GNAC Tournament semifinals.
The third-seeded Cadets (12-13), who defeated sixth-seeded St. Joseph's (Maine), 64-54, on Tuesday, will face No. 2 seed Suffolk on Friday, Feb. 29, at 7:30 p.m.
