Women's Basketball: Christine Daniels Named GNAC "Rookie Of The Week"

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Norwich freshman women's basketball player Christine Daniels was selected as the inaugural GNAC "Rookie of the Week" on Tuesday following a solid showing last weekend at the Bridgewater State Tournament.

The first-year player from Concord, N.H., led all Norwich freshmen in points and rebounds during the two-day event, averaging 8.0 ppg., and 9.5 rpg.

Daniels began her collegiate career on Friday night against Salve Regina, scoring 10 points and hauling in five rebounds. Then, versus Bridgewater State on Saturday, she tallied six points and a whopping 14 rebounds.

Despite dropping both games of the tournament, NU showed improvement from the first game to the second. The biggest improvement came in the rebounding department. After being outrebounded 56-39 against Salve Regina, Norwich outrebounded Bridgewater State, 55-35, on Saturday.

Daniels and her Norwich teammates return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 20, when the Cadets host Middlebury at Andrews Hall. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
