Women's Basketball: Norwich Blasts Daniel Webster, 72-44

NASHUA, N.H. - Ally Daniels and Laural McWilliams each scored a team-high 12 points to lead the Norwich University women's basketball team to a 72-44 victory over Daniel Webster in a GNAC contest played Saturday afternoon.
Winners of three straight games, the Cadets improve to 8-13 (7-3 GNAC). The Eagles, meanwhile, fall to 9-12 (2-8 GNAC).
Kylie Cowens added 11 points for NU, while Jess Jaggars chipped in 10 points. Christine Daniels contributed seven points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
The game went back and forth over the first several minutes, and the score was knotted at 8-8 at the 15:32 mark. A 13-4 Norwich run gave the Cadets a 21-12 lead at the 8:56 mark, but six straight points by Daniel Webster brought the Eagles back to within 21-18 with 6:05 to play before halftime. Norwich ended the half on a 9-2 run to take a 30-20 lead into halftime.
The Cadets opened the second half on a 10-0 spurt to extend their lead to 40-20 less than four minutes into the stanza. Daniel Webster got no closer than 19 points the rest of the way, and Norwich led by as many as 34 as the Cadets coasted down the stretch.
NU shot 42.6 percent from the floor, while DWC shot just 27.6 percent. The Cadets outrebounded the Eagles, 46-37. Norwich scored 26 points off 23 Daniel Webster turnovers.
Alyssa Regan led Daniel Webster with a game-high 16 points, while Sarah Shea added 11 points.
Norwich returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 12, when the Cadets host Rivier at Andrews Hall. Gametime for the GNAC contest is slated for 7 p.m.
