Norwich Women's Basketball To "Think Pink"

NORTHFIELD, Vt. -The Norwich University athletic department and the NU women's basketball team is joining nearly 1,000 schools across the country in its support against breast cancer by participating in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's "Think Pink" initiative at its home game versus Rivier on Thursday, Feb. 21.
The WBCA started "Think Pink" in 2007 in an effort to increase breast cancer awareness. Fans attending Thursday's 7 p.m. contest versus Rivier will be given the opportunity to donate money to the fight against breast cancer. Everyone who enters Andrews Hall will be given a pink ribbon, and everyone is encouraged to wear it as a show of support.
The Maroon & Gold Athletic Association has donated several items, including sweatshirts and caps, which will be raffled off. All proceeds generated by the raffle will also go to support cancer research.
A pink "Think Pink" flyer will be inserted into Thursday's game program, so that everyone in attendance can read up on some breast cancer facts.
Norwich and Rivier players will wear bright pink "Think Pink" t-shirts throughout warm-ups in a show of support and solidarity.
Norwich will have an information table, complete with informational flyers and pink lollipops, set up in the Wise Campus Center in an effort to bring awareness about breast cancer to the campus community. Donations will also be accepted at that location.
The "Think Pink" initiative is a global, unified effort for the WBCA's nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
The WBCA began "Think Pink" in 2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women's basketball, on campuses and in communities. In 2007, more than 120 schools unified for this effort and helped make the inaugural year of the "Think Pink" a success.
