WINTHROP, Mass. – The Norwich University women's basketball team has been projected to finish sixth out of the 13 teams competing in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference during the 2017-18 season, according to the annual Preseason Coaches Poll released on Monday.
Norwich tallied 104 points overall in the voting, good for sixth place in the rankings, but falling far behind the projected first place Monks of Saint Joseph's College of Maine and their 162 points. All 13 head coaches from the conference's members voted, overwhelming selecting Saint Joseph's to take the conference crown for the second year in a row. The Monks totaled 9 first-place votes.
Other first-place vote-getters included Emmanuel and Johnson & Wales, who each received two first place votes.
The voting broke down as follows;

The Cadets will open up their 2017-18 campaign on November 15th when they hit the road to take on an NCAA Division I opponent in the University of Vermont, a game set to be broadcast on ESPN3. The home-opener will take place on Friday, December 1st when the Cadets face Bay Path University in the opening match of the annual Hockenbury Classic at Norwich. Norwich will then kick off their conference schedule on December 9th against Albertus-Magnus at home at 3:00 PM.
