BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Norwich women's basketball team squared off with the Endicott College Gulls on Saturday afternoon in the consolation match of the Bridgewater State Cave Classic, dropping the game by a final score of 55-44.
The Cadets continued their offensive struggles of late, shooting just 14-64 (21.9%) from the field. The Gulls opened the game up with a 10-3 run before the Cadets clawed their way back to tie things up with their own 7 point run capped by an Arianna Harrison (Vernon, Vt.) three-pointer. The second quarter is where the Gulls took control of the game, outscoring NU 18-6 to head into halftime up 35-20.
In the third quarter, the Cadets got a little bit of rhythm going as they outscored Endicott 15-13 in the quarter. It wasn't enough to catch up, however, as the Gulls managed to outlast NU and take the game by a final score of 55-44.
Harrison led the way for the Cadets, notching her first double-double of the year with 20 points and 10 rebounds, as well as 4 steals. Classmate Shyann Josler (Thetford Center, Vt.) paced the offense with a team-high 5 assists as well as 9 rebounds and 3 steals. The team forced 20 Endicott turnovers, including 9 steals altogether.
Arianna Harrison was named to the All-Tournament team after the game, as she collected 22 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 steals on the weekend.
The loss drops the Cadets down to 0-3 on the year and places them fourth in the Cave Classic's final standings. The squad will be back on the floor on December 1st, as they host the opening match of the annual Hockenbury Classic against Bay Path University.
