Women's Ice Hockey: Norwich And Southern Maine Skate To 0-0 Tie

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich women's ice hockey team skated to a 0-0 draw versus Southern Maine on Saturday night at Kreitzberg Arena. The Cadets' record moves to 6-5-2 (3-4-2 ECAC East), while the Huskies' record moves to 4-12-1 (4-6-1 ECAC East).
Norwich had several opportunities, including nine power plays, but could not beat Southern Maine goaltender Emily Barrett. The Cadets outshot the Huskies, 28-18, for the game. NU freshman goalie Cindy Fortin made saves on all 18 shots that she faced en route to the shutout.
Southern Maine was 0-for-6 on its power play.
Sophie Leclerc led the NU attack with 10 shots on goal. The junior forward was unable to beat Barrett, despite several nice chances.
NU concludes its four-game homestand on Sunday, Jan. 27, when the Cadets host conference foe New England College at Kreitzberg Arena. Faceoff is set for 3 p.m.
