MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Junior defenseman Kim Tiberi (Raleigh, N.C.) of the Norwich University women's ice hockey team was named the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Player of the Week on Monday aftermoon.
Tiberi had a big week, scoring a game-winning goal and notching three assists for a four-point weekend to lead the Cadets to a sweep over Saint Anselm and Castleton University.
Tiberi scored the game-winning goal in a 3-0 win over Castleton on Saturday. She also notched an assist in the victory. Tiberi also tallied two assists in a 5-2 victory over Saint Anselm on Friday.
She is off to a red-hot start this season already surpassing her sophomore season point total in just four games. Tiberi has a goal and team-leading six assists to tie for the team lead with seven points.
Tiberi also leads the team with a +7 plus/minus rating so far this season. This marks the first weekly award of her career and the second straight week NU has claimed the Player of the Week honors after Sarah Schwenzfeier (Hingham, Mass.) won last week.
Norwich (4-0-0, 4-0-0 NEHC) is ranked sixth in the USCHO.com National Rankings and seventh in the d3hockey.com poll. The Cadets travel to Plattsburgh State on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. showdown with the three-time defending national champions.
