RUTLAND, Vt. - The Norwich University women's ice hockey team used a four-goal third period to pull away from Castleton University on Friday night en route to securing a 6-1 victory in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.
Castleton fell to 4-12-4 on the season and 3-7-2 in NEHC play with the loss, while No. 4 Norwich improved to 15-4-1 and 11-1-0 in the conference.
Five Cadets tallied two points on the night, led by Adrieana Rossini (Malden, Mass.) with a pair of goals. Nicole Goebel (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) and Bryn Labbe (Calgary, Alberta) each recorded two assists, while Jessica Piracini (Tewksbury, Mass) and Adelle Murphy (Roseau, Minn.) compiled their two points with a goal and an assist each. Laurie King (Waddington, N.Y.) was strong in net for the Cadets, stopping 12 shots to improve to 13-1-1 on the season.
Aimee Briand netted the lone goal for Castleton, while freshman goaltender Alexis Kalm finished the night with 28 saves for the Spartans. Rylie Wills played the final 15:57 of the contest, notching 11 saves on 14 shots.
