Women’s Hockey: Norwich heads to Michigan for Division III Women’s Ice Hockey Championship Weekend

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's ice hockey team is headed west for the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey Championship weekend. 

Adrian College's Arrington Arena in Adrian, Mich. has been selected as the host site for the 2017 Championship where the Cadets will meet three-time defending national champion Plattsburgh State on Friday, March 17 at 3 p.m. in the semifinals. Adrian will face Gustavus Adolphus at 7 p.m. in the other semifinal matchup. 

Norwich (23-5-1) punched its ticket to its sixth semifinal appearance in the program's 10th year as a varsity program with thrilling 5-4 double-overtime victory over Middlebury College on Saturday. The Cadets will make their third appearance in D-III women's hockey's ultimate weekend in the last four years. 

Plattsburgh State (26-1-1) continued its quest for its fourth straight NCAA Tournament title and sixth overall, downing MIAC champion St. Thomas 4-2 at the Stafford Ice Arena on Saturday. The Cardinals have won their three straight national championships on home ice at the Stafford Arena. Plattsburgh State also won in 2007 and 2008 on home ice as well. 

Tickets will be sold on hour before each game in the Arrington Arena lobby. The cost is $8 for stadium-seating, $5 standing room, $5 student with valid college ID, $5 child (<12 years) and child (<2 years) free with paying adult. There is no advanced presale available. Each ticket is only valid for one game and there will be a separate admission for all four games on the weekend, including Saturday's Third-Place Game at 3 p.m. and then the Championship at 7 p.m.
