Norwich Falls To WNEC, 21-8
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - WNEC clinched its fourth consecutive unbeaten regular season in the New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) after posting a 21-8 decision over visiting Norwich in a women's lacrosse game played Monday.
This was the 11th consecutive victory for WNEC (12-3), which took top honors in the league with a perfect 7-0 mark.
Thirteen players scored points led by Audrey Kelton who netted four goals, while handing out four assists. Jess Vogel contributed three goals and a pair of assists. Lindsey Fenton added two goals and two assists, while Michelle DeBellis tallied two goals with an assist.
Western New England College scored the first four goals of the game in the opening 6:35 and took a comfortable 14-3 advantage at half-time.
Allison Daniels led the Cadets (6-3, 4-2 NEWLA) with four goals. She was selected the NEWLA Rookie of the Week earlier in the day. Katie Magnus chipped in with a goal and assist.
Norwich will return to the field on Tuesday, hosting Castleton State at Howard Field at 4 p.m.
