Women's Lacrosse: Emerson Rallies Past Norwich, 13-12

BOSTON - Meaghan Ross scored her third goal of the game with 3:59 left to cap a three-goal rally and give Emerson College a 13-12 victory over Norwich University in a key GNAC contest on Sunday afternoon.
Emerson improves to 11-3 (4-0 GNAC) with the victory, while Norwich falls to 6-4 (2-1 GNAC).
Ross' goal came after two goals by the Lions' Laura Miley rallied Emerson from a 12-10 deficit. Miley scored unassisted with 4:59 remaining and then tallied a free-position shot 29 seconds later.
Norwich jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead with Kathleen Hennessey tallying an unassisted goal just 19 second into the game. Hennessey scored again just over two and a half minutes later, and Ashley Haviland game the Cadets a three goal cushion just 3:53 into the game.
Two Jess Kalikow goals brought Emerson to with one, but Jessica Allmer increased the Cadets' lead to 4-2 at the 20:52 mark. The Lions knotted the score on goals by Katie Peters and Kalikow, but Haviland gave the Cadets a 5-4 lead at the 9:52 mark. Miley knotted the score just 33 ticks before halftime.
Emerson scored the first two goals of the second half with Ross and Miley finding the back of the net. The Cadets roared back with four straight goals to take a 9-7 lead. Miley and Ally Daniels traded goals before Peters hit a free position shot and Ross tallied an unassisted marker at the 9:46 mark.
Goals by Haviland and Hennessey powered Norwich to a 12-10 lead with 8:34 remaining in the game before Emerson's final rally earned the victory for the Lions.
Emerson outshot Norwich 36-18 in the game. Norwich goalkeeper Kellie Pickel had 15 saves while the Lions' Meredith Tufts had five.
Norwich returns to action on Wednesday, April 16, when the Cadets travel to Castleton, Vt., to take on in-state rival Castleton State in a non-league game. The contest is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
