Women's Lacrosse: Franklin Pierce Upends Norwich, 25-20

RINDGE, N.H. - Jordan Baillargeon scored a game-high 10 goals, and Carla Savini and Lauren Stille each netted six goals apiece to lead Franklin Pierce to a wild 25-20 victory over Norwich in a non-league women's lacrosse game Thursday evening.
The Cadets, who saw their six-game win streak come to an end with the loss, fall to 6-2 on the season. NU was led by Ally Daniels, who scored a team-high six goals. Chelsea Martin, Ashley Haviland and Allyson Allen each chipped in three goals apiece to help pace the Norwich attack.
Franklin Pierce (2-8) jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead on a goal by Stille just 13 second into the first half. Three straight goals by Norwich put the Cadets on top, 3-1, less than three minutes later. The Ravens took control of the game for the next 17 minutes, outscoring NU, 7-1, during that span to establish an 8-4 edge midway through the stanza. The Cadets knotted the game at 8-8 six minutes later following four straight goals, but Franklin Pierce scored twice in the final 1:04 of the opening half to take a 10-8 lead into the intermission.
Norwich scored the first goal of the second half, but Franklin Pierce tallied the next four goals to push its lead to 14-9 just five minutes into the stanza. The Cadets outscored the Ravens, 7-3, over the next 12 minutes to pull to within 17-16 at the 13:30 mark. That was as close as NU would get, however, as Franklin Pierce netted the next three goals to go on top, 20-16, and the Ravens never let their lead dip below three goals the rest of the way.
Erin McGaffigan played the entire 60 minutes in goal for the Cadets. She made eight saves on the evening.
Norwich returns to action on Saturday, April 12, when the Cadets travel to South Hadley, Mass., to take on Mount Holyoke at 1 p.m.
