Women's Lacrosse: Norwich Defeats Pine Manor, 18-9

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Jessica Allmer netted a team-high four goals and dished out one assist, and Ally Daniels scored three goals and added a game-high seven assists to lead Norwich past Pine Manor, 18-9, in a GNAC women's lacrosse game Friday afternoon at Howard Field.

The Cadets, who have won two straight games, improve to 8-4 (3-1 GNAC). The Gators, meanwhile, fall to 0-9 (0-3 GNAC).

Chelsea Martin added three goals for the Cadets, while Ashley Haviland and Stephanie Smith each scored two apiece. Ashley Skovira, Katie Magnus, Dawn McNulty and Kristen Lewis each contributed one goal apiece.

Kathleen Hennessy and Magnus each added one assist apiece to round out the scoring for the Cadets.

Allmer and Daniels each scored twice in the opening 20 minutes of the game as the Cadets built a 10-0 lead at the 10:58 mark of the first half. NU led 12-2 at the intermission, and the Cadets stretched their lead out to 17-3 midway through the second stanza.

Pine Manor scored six unanswered goals to creep to within 17-9, but Norwich tallied the final marker of the game to account for the final score.  

Pine Manor was led by Elaine Rodriguez, who scored a game-high five goals. Liz Castle chipped in two goals, while Stephanie Ludwig and Jean Marie Salie each tallied one apiece.

Norwich goalkeeper Erin McGaffigan stopped nine shots, while Pine Manor goalie Angeline Capre made 14 saves.

Norwich concludes its 2008 regular season on Monday, April 21, when the Cadets travel to Standish, Maine, to take on St. Joseph's (Maine) at 4 p.m.
