Women's Lacrosse: Norwich Gets Past St. Joseph's (Maine), 21-9

STANDISH, Maine - Ally Daniels scored a game-high six goals and added a game-best four assists to lead the Norwich University women's lacrosse team to a comfortable 21-9 victory over GNAC foe St. Joseph's (Maine) in the team's regular season finale on Monday afternoon.

The win, Norwich's third in a row, locks up the No. 2 seed in the upcoming GNAC Tournament. The Cadets (9-4, 4-1 GNAC) will host Lasell at 4 p.m., on Wednesday, April 23, in the conference semifinals. NU defeated Lasell, 19-12, during the regular season.

Kathleen Hennessy added four goals for Norwich, while Chelsea Martin and Ashley Haviland each tallied three apiece. Jessica Allmer chipped in two goals, and Kelly Bush, Ashley Skovira and Erin McGaffigan each scored one goal apiece. Dawn McNulty dished out two assists, and Martin and Maura Kee were each credited with one assist apiece to round out the Norwich scoring.

Kellie Pickel and McGaffigan split time in goal for the Cadets with Pickel making seven saves in the first half, and McGaffigan stopping nine shots in the second stanza.

St. Joseph's (Maine) (5-6, 2-3 GNAC) was led by Alyssa Marchant, who scored a team-high five goals. Lauren Hagerman added three goals and two assists for the Monks, who will be the No. 4 seed in the GNAC Tournament. They will take on top-seeded Emerson in the tournament semifinals on Wednesday.

Chynna Nichols made 10 saves in goal for St. Joseph's (Maine). She played the entire 60 minutes.
