Women's Rugby: Albuquerque To Host National Elite 8

Dec 12, 2007

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Since qualifying for the National Elite-8 one month ago, the Norwich women's rugby team has patiently awaited the announcement of where the playoffs will be held. That news finally arrived today as USA Rugby announced that Albuquerque, N.M., will host the 2008 Championship series for men and women Division I and II. Matches will be played from April 18-20.

"We are working with many new partners this year and looking forward to again raising the quality and visibility of the National Championship Series," said Kim Brock, USA Rugby Director of National Championships.

It was also announced that Stanford University will once again host the National Championships for all collegiate divisions. These matches will be held May 2 and 3.

"This is exciting news," said NU head coach Austin Hall. "This creates an outstanding challenge for Norwich students as we will head to the arid landscape of the southwest. I doubt many of our players have been to this region and it should be a good cultural experience for all. We should probably start hydrating."
