Womens Rugby: Cadets End Season With 32-0 Loss At Dartmouth
HANOVER, N.H. - The spring women's rugby season came to an end for Norwich University this weekend with the Cadets suffering a 32-0 loss to Dartmouth. The Big Green put 17 points on the board in the first half and added 15 in the second en route to the shutout victory.
Despite not scoring, the Cadets had a couple bright moments. Freshman Adria Pickin showed her agility and speed with some breaks through the line. Freshman Megan Campbell also had a breakaway that brought her into the try-zone, but Dartmouth prevented the ball from being touched down.
"Whenever we play Dartmouth, we know we're going to have to protect the ball," said head coach Austin Hall. "They are as good as it gets at stealing possession in the tackle. Ours is a young, athletic team, but we must make the commitment to protect our ball at every breakdown."
In the second match, the Cadets fielded nearly the same side, despite the extreme heat, and battled the Dartmouth freshmen team to a 44-0 victory. Freshman Katie Gingras scored three tries, while freshmen Dawn Boardman, Adria Pickin, Janet Roswell, and Caroline Bell each added one. Sophomore Rachel Bitar also scored for the Cadets.
