Women’s Rugby: Norwich outlasts Brown, 45-31

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's rugby team won a high-scoring affair with Brown University, 45-31 on Saturday morning at the NU Dog River Rugby Pitch in National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) action on Homecoming Weekend. 

Sophomore Caitlin Heale (Christchurch, New Zealand) scored three tries to lead the Cadets' offense on the day in their first-ever meeting with Brown since the programs elevated to varsity. 

Junior Sheila Decker (Saranac Lake, N.Y.), Talaifina Tavake (Resada, Calif.), Denisse Zambon (Bronx, N.Y.) and Olivia Bloom (Annapolis, Md.) each scored tries to round out the Norwich offensive leaders. 

Decker went 5-for-7 on conversions as well for another double-digit point day. She tied Heale with 15 points on the day. 

Norwich improved to 2-1 with the victory, while Brown fell to 0-1. The Cadets host Army West Point on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. on the NU Dog River Rugby Pitch. The game will be video-streamed live on www.nsnsports.net/colleges/norwich
