Hunsicker Named GNAC "Goalie Of The Week"

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Freshman women's soccer player Nicki Hunsicker was selected as the GNAC "Goalie of the Week" for her performance in Norwich's 1-0 victory over Lasell last week. The first-year goalie is the first NU player to earn "Goalie of the Week" accolades in 2007.

A native of Emmaus, Pa., Hunsicker turned away all three shots she faced in the Cadets' win over Lasell. Her biggest save came in the final minute of play when she made an incredible stop to preserve the conference road victory.

Hunsicker has played in six matches for the Cadets so far this season, receiving four starts in goal. She has posted two shutouts and a sparkling 0.73 goals-against average.

Norwich (6-2-0, 4-0-0 GNAC) has won five straight games, and the Cadets have outscored their opponents 23-2 during that stretch.

The Norwich women's soccer team resumes its three-game homestand on Wednesday, Sept. 26, when the Cadets welcome Mt. Ida to Howard Field for a conference game. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
