Norwich Pounds Daniel Webster, 8-0

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Karissa Doyon scored two goals and added an assist, and six other Cadets scored goals as the Norwich women's soccer team romped over Daniel Webster, 8-0, in a GNAC match Monday afternoon at Howard Field.

With the victory, NU improves to 10-3-0 (8-1-0 GNAC). The 10 wins mark a new single-season record for the Norwich women's soccer program.

Doyon began the scoring frenzy when she scored on a breakaway off an assist from Crystal Fauteux in the fourth minute. Less than two minutes later, Meghan Hoskins made it 2-0 when she converted a free kick. Approximately 10 minutes later, Doyon tallied her second goal of the contest when she corralled a crossing pass from Nikki Szczepanski and buried the ball into the back of the net to give the Cadets a 3-0 lead at the 15:39 mark.

Kristen Lewis added an unassisted goal in the 26th minute, and Maria Hernandez scored off a feed from Sarah Riester in the 33rd minute as Norwich took a commanding 5-0 lead into halftime.

Sarah Reuschel tallied NU's sixth goal of the contest in the 54th minute off an assist from Doyon. Caitlin Wohlschlegel made it 7-0 in the 65th minute when she scored an unassisted goal. Less than one minute later, Sarah Voss closed out the scoring when she tallied a goal off an assist from Megan Gingras.

Ashley Skovira got the start for the Cadets in goal and made three saves.

Norwich held a 28-6 advantage in shots, while also owning a 6-0 edge in corner kicks.

Norwich returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 10, when the Cadets travel to Boston to take on Emerson. Kickoff for the GNAC contest is slated for 6 p.m.
