Norwich Blanks Johnson & Wales, 4-0

NORTHFIELD, Vt. -The Norwich women's soccer team got back on the winning track on Saturday, defeating visiting Johnson & Wales, 4-0, at Howard Field. The Cadets, who have lost just twice in their last 12 contests, improve to 11-4-0 (9-2-0 GNAC).
Nikki Szczepanski opened the scoring for Norwich in the fourth minute as the freshman took a feed from Sarah Riester and buried the ball into the net.
Karissa Doyon doubled the Cadets' lead just before halftime as the freshman scored off an assist from Leanne Waterman in the 44th minute. The Johnson & Wales goaltender appeared to make the save, but the ball eventually trickled past her and into the net.
Lauren Pacelli made it 3-0 in favor of NU in the 57th minute when she converted off a pass from Nikki Crum. Ally Flemming closed out the scoring at the 81:00 mark when she headed the ball up and over the goalie following a Becky Scully corner kick.
Four goalkeepers saw time in the NU net as Alecia Wright, Ashley Skovira, Tracey Breault and Nicki Hunsicker all played in the contest.
Norwich outshot Johnson & Wales, 25-3. The Cadets held a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Norwich women's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 20, when the Cadets travel to West Hartford, Mass., to take on St. Joseph's (Conn.) in a GNAC match. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
