NU Keeps Win Streak Alive; Blanks Mount Ida, 3-0
NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Becky Scully scored two goals and added an assist, and Lauren Pacelli netted one goal and an assist as the Norwich women's soccer team shut out Mount Ida, 3-0, Wednesday afternoon at Howard Field.
The win was the sixth straight for the Cadets (7-2-0, 5-0-0 GNAC), who built a 3-0 halftime lead and coasted to the victory.
Scully opened the scoring at the 29:29 mark, finding the back of the net off an assist from Pacelli. Pacelli made it 2-0 in the 37th minute, scoring off an assist from Scully. Scully took a feed from Katie Magnus and scored an insurance tally in the 44th minute to close out the scoring.
The three goals were more than enough for Norwich goalkeeper Nicki Hunsicker, who turned away all five shots that she faced en route to the shutout victory.
The Cadets have outscored their opposition, 26-2, during their six-game win streak.
The Norwich women's soccer team wraps up its three-match homestand on Saturday, Sept. 29, when the Cadets host Simmons at Howard Field. The GNAC contest is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
