Athletics: Tyler Renaud Announces Resignation From Norwich
NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Tyler Renaud, who has served as Norwich University women's soccer and women's lacrosse coach for each of the past four seasons, has resigned from the school. The university will begin looking for his replacement immediately.
Renaud will be relocating to Central New York to take over as the head women's soccer coach at SUNY Institute of Technology in Utica, N.Y.
Renaud helped turn both of his programs into winners in just a few short years. The soccer squad went 42-26-7 during his four-year tenure. The Cadets compiled a 15-5-2 overall record this past season en route to capturing the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) regular season and tournament championships. The tournament title gave NU its first-ever bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Renaud built Norwich's women's lacrosse program from scratch after arriving at the university. Last season, in just its second year as a varsity team, the Cadets went 11-5 and won the GNAC Tournament championship. NU went on to play in the ECAC Tournament that season. His overall record at Norwich was 30-19.
A graduate of SUNY Fredonia, Renaud is relocating to Central New York in order to spend more time with his family.
"I cannot express enough gratitude to our administration, admissions office and our athletic director Tony Mariano," said Renaud. "I have established lifelong friendships at Norwich, and will miss my daily interaction with the wonderful coaching staff.
"I would also like to recognize my assistant coach, Lauren Pacelli. Her dedication to both teams was certainly one of the underlying reasons why we were able to become champions."
